There are three types of adoption plans — open, semi-open, and confidential. Open Adoption

In an open adoption, you have ongoing contact with your child and the adoptive family throughout and after the process. You can maintain a real relationship — staying connected to your child's life while knowing they're being cared for in a loving home.

Semi-Open Adoption

A semi-open adoption offers limited communication — typically letters and photos — mediated through an agency or third party. You stay informed about your child's life without direct contact with the adoptive family.

Confidential Adoption

In a confidential (or closed) adoption, there is no contact with the adoptive family before, during, or after the pregnancy. Birth records remain sealed. This option is often chosen by women who want to move forward and allow their child to have a fully independent life.
